Video Games: the movie

1:
Video games were successful as they allowed people to have a "contained" challenge that was simple in concept but difficult when carrying out.Video games were also successful as they allowed for the fun of real physical games with more accessibility, replay value and convenience. A popular game is a game that can connect to a large amount of people whether it is through it's simple concept or if they heard about it from someone else.

2:
In the 1980s, the video game landscape was becoming over saturated with video games and caused games and consoles to drop in price. Video games were also becoming repetitive in game-play style and were no longer original or stood out. The crash of video games was eventually sealed with the release of Atari's E.T. game , which was rushed and unplayable.

3:
Video games are a form of art, they depict situations with a setting and characters made by the artist, the game designer(s). Like art, video games also can be realistic or abstract, often also having genres like action or fantasy that are based off the culture and art of a certain time period. like other forms of art like music or literature, video games, and people's opinion of them are purely subjective.

4:
I think these indie games will become more popular as the gaming community grows and branches out with more mainstream games likely staying co-op that allows different people to play the same game. I also believe that the next evolution of video games is in the form  of virtual reality and augmented reality as they allow for a more physically interactive video game, something video games are stereotypical shown to lack( exercise ). Video games also need to improve their rating systems as games are often bought for being a sequel in a large franchise or from getting over-hyped by people and large companies.

Scratch Level 3 - Pong

Project page:  https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/185441294/ 1: While putting together the game, I faced a couple of problems. One of these problems was with how fast the ball started off and did not allow me to react quick enough, to fix this, I lowered the starting speed of the circle. I also found the game would take too long to get someone to score, so, I increased the rate at which the ball sped up. The coding was hard to keep track of at times, which I remedied by watching the tutorial and looking at the code often. 2: To differentiate my game from the tutorial, I first made the game a multiplayer game with two players as it was simple and allowed for more fun. I also played with the background, paddles and the circle. For the paddles, i used trampolines as it made sense with the circle bouncing around. I also used the button from the Watchmen, a graphic novel, and the background was just of a country I want to travel to. I also created a point system that allowed made the...

Blender - Mushroom

I created a mushroom in the program Blender which is based on a tutorial which can be seen  here . Making the mushroom it was necessary to make a texture that shows up as a 2D image like  this . Unfortunately, after I tried to add more of a curve to my mushroom, I overlapped UPDATE: google doc links for my texture: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pvV1wl_wucLXwIbkilf9hS55Xozkr_94/view?usp=sharing  and .blend file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Z_NbJv-Yc13QFLfwofa8uZStwidvvCux/view?usp=sharing

Pixel Art

I decided to recreate the Delorean from the Back To The Future trilogy in the form of pixel art, as it was this school that honours Michael J. Fox and his donations to this school and as he stars in the movie. Making the pixel art, I used skills from last year and used an image of the modified Delorean and a picture of lines of fire that is iconic with the vehicle. Pixel Art: the images I used as inspiration:
